basic passive guitar electronics (archive)

I have always felt that information on guitar electronics has either been very confusing and possibly misinformed, or too technical for the average guitarist to understand. Additionally, a lot of resources for guitarists forgo the use of traditional circuit schematics, which is counter-intuitive for those who want to get a grasp of how the electronics actually work. I mean, circuits are represented by schematics for a reason. The truth is, guitar electronics are actually very simple, and hopefully I can help keep it that way.

My aim is to provide some resources so that guitarists who are willing to learn a little about electronics will be able to begin to understand what is going on “under the hood”. I’m trying not to make things too complicated, but I’m also trying to make sure the right information is all there. A basic knowledge of circuits will be helpful, but probably not necessary because I try to take it one step at a time.
